The Tube - a brief introduction I'm proud to present this very first issue of the Tube. Hopefully, many more are to come. The presumptive future of this publication does, though, rely completely on you, dear readers.
Even though our content is mainly based on our personal preferences, your input is essential. Please send any suggestions about anything whatsoever. Remember, we aim to please!
So, isn't there already quite an ample supply of entertainment-related sites on the net? Sure. There is. Then, what's the story behind the Tube? To put it briefly, I've always had a profound interest in audial and visual stimulation, and so have most of my friends. As you know, the internet is a veritable goldmine for the entertainment junkie. I have, though, found that entertainment sites with quality content, logical structure and clean design are damn hard to find. Also, constantly being overflowed with heavy graphics and tons of banner ads annoys me. Combine that with the tendency of complete lack of structure and the common mistake of trying to cram too much into very little space, and you've got a partial explanation for the creation of The Tube. Ok. I've bitched enough now. I'm not saying that the Tube lives up to our own expectations, but we try to do our very best. The main reason is, though, that my friends and I wanted to find a way to express our opinions.
But we don't work alone. We'd be nothing without our partners in crime: record labels, freelance writers and others, all of whom are listed on the kudos-page. Also, check the links page to find other worthwhile e-zines.
Originally planning a release by the end of February, our daytime duties caused a delay. Eventhough the web is the ultimate foundation for dynamic publications, we see no excuse for publishing half-finished productions. In late January, Martin, Magnus and I went to a concert with Deftones + Will Haven in Stockholm. My expectations weren't too high, since I hadn't seen either band live before. The concert was excellent. Read more in Martin's article, and have a look at the collection of live-photos (if you want some in high-res, just mail me!). Unfortunately, I messed up a roll of film (originally inserted it into the camera directly after a harsh session of the Star Wars drinking game to take some pictures of the participants, and... well... that's another story), which means that we have very few pictures of Will Haven. We're all a tad irritated with the disturbing change of the X-files. Magnus covers this topic in one his article "Let Cancerman Win!". Being a film-student in Stockholm, Magnus has the opportunity of seeing a massive load of films. Unfortunately, Magnus has had very little time to spare as of late, which means we don't have any movie reviews in this issue. That will, though, change with issue 2, as my Canadian friends Ryan and Leigh have promised to send us reviews. Exciting. :) Andreas is hooked on Quake II (aren't we all?). A review of Q2 + links to sites with comprehensive Quake-related information can be found in the gaming-section. Anyways, here's the result of our efforts. Hope you like it.
